An example of discrimination against the majority.

"In an effort to encourage more people to embrace Christianity the church have decided to make the bible more user friendly. It is now sold in twin packs, six packs and comes in several varieties. Single ply, twin ply or with added aloe vera!"

Now for those of you who took offence at the above I am sorry. It is a joke. Depending on your sense of humour it is either funny or it isn't. It would probably offend devout Christians but it is perfectly legal for me to say it.

But what if I changed the wording? What if it read:

"In an effort to encourage more people to embrace islam they have decided to make the koran more user friendly. It is now sold in twin packs, six packs and comes in several varieties. Single ply, twin ply or with added aloe vera!"

It would still be a joke but with one big difference. It would also be illegal to say it!

Can somebody tell me why this is? Why is it perfectly okay and perfectly legal to make jokes about Christianity and to offend devout Christians but illegal to make jokes about islam and offend muslims?

This is a Christian country with a Christian majority population. Yet anybody who feels like it can mock our religious beliefs and criticise us to their hearts content. But you try it with islam. You will be nicked and prosecuted before you know what has hit you.

A perfect example of the majority being discriminated against in favour of a minority.
