I am sorry to interupt Castonya while he is in full flow but I am absolutely fuming! I have just read that Lesley Ash has been awarded five million pounds compensation for catching MRSA in hospital. Now given that the NHS doesn't actually have any money of it's own that means that you, me and every other idiot who pays taxes in this country is now going to pay five million pounds to somebody who has already earnt far more than most of us will earn in our entire lifetimes.
Okay it is wrong that she caught MRSA in hospital. Of course it shouldn't happen. But what was she in hospital for? Cancer? A serious illness? Road accident? No. She went to hospital because she fell off a table and broke a couple of ribs and punctured a lung while having rough sex with her boyfriend!
And why such a huge amount? Will everyone who has contacted MRSA in hospital get 5 million? Of coures they won't! The amount was based on her loss of earnings! Why? Is a second rate actress who can't keep her legs closed really more important than a dustman, road sweeper or anybody else who has contacted MRSA? That is what they seem to be saying!
Yes something needs to be done about MRSA but wasting enormous sums of money on compensation is only going to leave the NHS even more under funded and create more problems. It is a complete disgrace and whoever agreed to pay her this money should resign immediately.
